May 26, 2020 from 3:30-5:00
We invite all parents to come in with their kindergarten age student that is registered for the 2020-2021 school year to the school. The event will look like this.
- You and your child will enter the school through door # 7 at the front of the school(near the gym). You can park in the parking lot at the front of the school. Please follow the time slots as follows to make sure we do not have too many people at one time and we can follow social distancing protocols.
3:30-3:45 last name from A-D
3:45-4:00 last name from E-H
4:00-4:15 last name from I-L
4:15-4:30 last name from M-P
4:30-4:45 last name from R-T
4:45-5:00 last name from U-Z
- You will drop off the “Welcome to Kindergarten" questionnaire that was given to you when you registered. This will help in getting to know your child and also to help with class placement.
- You will pick up a Welcome to Kindergarten bag. This will have items that you can use to prepare your child for kindergarten. https://safeyoutube.net/w/vwUE Use this link to watch a video that will help you know what to do with the items when working with your child. As well there will be addition items such as a social story about coming to Blakeburn Elementary kindergarten, forms to fill in to bring to the school in the fall and some information from community groups.
- Your child will have their picture taken. We use these to get to know your child and help with class placements. We also use them at the beginning of the school year in activities to welcome your child to the school.
- We are asking that you bring in a painted rock with your child's first name on it(if you could put the first and last name on the bottom of the rock in sharpie that would be a great help). We will use this for welcoming activities at the beginning of the year and hopefully will use them in our garden on the side of the school as well(there are already many painted rocks there that students have done). We hope that this will also create a sense of community with our newest members of the Blakeburn student body.
