Reversed Lunch
Numerous elementary schools have shifted the sequence of their lunch hours so that students have the opportunity to play first, and then come in to eat their lunch. Schools and families have reported that the students seem to benefit from this change in sequence in numerous ways. Some reported benefits include increased appetites, more lunch being eaten, fewer digestion issues and a greater readiness to learn in the afternoon.
As a result of the positive responses that we received from parents when we presented the proposal for this pilot during September, we will be piloting the Reversed Lunch during the month of November. To assist all of us with this transition, please ensure that you pack an adequately-sized snack for your child to enjoy at recess.
