Monty does Rock! The Montgomery Music Department offers many different opportunities and special events for students to take advantage of. Playing a variety of musical styles and repertoire while learning an instrument and meeting new friends is a great way to spend your middle school years. Last year, our Music Tour took us to 100 Mile and we had rave reviews, were in the newspaper and have been invited back. It was a terrific experience for students and they had an exciting and memorable time.
This year, Band classes will be held mainly during Period 4, while non-band members will be in classes doing non-instructional activies. Band is a credit course and students are expected to participate for the full year. Having Band scheduled as part of the regular school day is a wonderful opportunity for students to join and learn a new instrument. The course is filled on a first come, first served basis.
Being involved in music, and learning a musical instrument, extends brain neuron growth that continues to prove to increase acedemic abilities and skills. Music becomes a life skill and tool that will reward students throughout their lives.
