Our school counselling program provides consulting, coordinating, counselling and educational services to students, parents, teachers and administrators. These services focus on the social, emotional and developmental aspects of childhood and adolescence; services also include response to crisis, parent and staff consultation and teacher in-service.
Our School Counsellor Mrs. P. Komar
As school counselor I work with students and families. I see students individually or in group settings working to enhance students’ personal and social development empowering them toward positive change. Together we work on choices, challenges, decision making and consequences, peer pressure and relationships. Other issues may include anger management, emotions, stress and resiliency.
Students in crisis are referred to me either through parents, teachers, administration or self referral. Parents seeking information for outside assistance in dealing with crisis often call me and I can help find appropriate agencies.
If a student would like to see me he or she can visit the main office and ask the secretaries, Mrs. Pope or Mrs. Rhodes, for an appointment request form. Parents often call me when they would like to talk an issue involving their child or if they would like me to see their child. I can be reached at the school number of 604-942-0261 ext. 188.
