  Art

All Banting Students take part in Art Explorations.

In the nine week Visual Arts exploration course, students have the opportunity to look at and create a variety of 2D and 3D art projects in the following four categories:

  • 2-D design and drawing techniques in Sketchbook
  • Mixed media,  which may include painting, pastels, collage or printmaking
  • Ceramics
  • Computer Graphics

The four major projects listed above are equally weighted in evaluation.  Students may participate in evaluating their portfolio of Art work.  Their final letter grade will be based on the creative and technical success of the projects. The work habit mark reflects behaviour, attitude and effort in Art.

Choir

Banting Choir meets twice a week, before and after school for regular practices.  We have been working hard this year to enter the Kiwanis Festival.  The Festival took place on May3rd, 2011 at Kwantlen University.  The adjudicators gave the Choir rave reviews, issued a Gold Standing certificate and invited this group of young ladies to the National Festival in Ottawa.  Additionally, Ms. Slade will accept the Festival trophy for “A Most Promising Middle School Choir” during the June 10th Awards Ceremony.

Band

Advanced Band meets on Mon. and Wed. at 7:45 am. Beginner Band meets on Tues. and Thurs. at 7:45 am. Both Bands had an excellent showing at Band Days at Maillard and Pitt River. We have received two gifts of cash from the Banting PAC and Coquitlam Lions Club to help the Band and Drama programs.

Our final concert will be on June 14th at 6:30 pm – starting with Drama, then Choir and Band.  The Drama piece is called, “ The Hysterical History of Troy,” which is a comic look at ancient Greek history. Admission will be by donation .
