September has once again flown by filled with anticipation, anxiety and excitement on the part of students, staff and parents. The short month was filled with a plethora of activities intended to welcome our students back to school after a long summer and ease the transition back to school routines. An integrated PRIDE and Olympic activity was completed by all students and can be seen colourfully displayed all around the school. Leah Pells addressed the school at the end of the first week, inspiring students to persevere and have patience achieving their goals. Classes have been finalized and schedules set. Extra curricular athletic teams have been organized and first practices and games held. thanks to our teachers who volunteer their time to these activities. The two bands with over 120 students subscribed are in full rehearsals and our choir has registered 74 young singers. Our new Grade 6 students were treated to a pancake breakfast hosted by our teachers and photo day was held. The whole school supported our local hero Terry Fox by participating in a neighbourhood run and collecting donations to support the foundation. A group of students attended We Day and were inspired by leaders such as the Dalai Lama, to make change in our world locally and globally. A PAC meeting and a SPC meeting were held. Students participated in a school-wide numeracy teask assessment and a reading comprehension assessment to provide baseline data to inform instruction. Meet the Teacher evening was successfully well attended and now............... .............it is October.
