2010-2011

At the assembly during which we recognize the contributions of our students who volunteer to take on a variety of leadership roles beyond those they take on within their classrooms, we asked students who had taken these roles on on to come to the front of the gym. Half of our student body stood and made their way to the front of the gym.

According to our CBA data 84% of our Grade 3 students were either fully meeting or exceeding expectations during the 2009-2010 School year and 81% of our students were either fully meeting or exceeding expectations during the 2010-2011 School year. This decrease can be explained by the inherent problems with comparing different cohort groups as mentioned within our writing goal. In the future we plan to track cohort (Grade) groups through our school rather than comparing different cohort groups. In May of 2011 we collected our baseline data to monitor our students' progress in future years. We found that 60% of our students school-wide were either fully meeting or exceeding expectations. In April of 2011 our Grade 4 students participated in the Middle-Years Development Instrument (MDI). This tool provided further evidence that our students would benefit from opportunities to develop Empathy and Prosocial Behaviour.

2011-2012

Progress towards this objective will be measured through an increased number of students fully meeting and exceeding expectations in Social Responsibility, and in the rate of involvement of our students in the wide variety of opportunities we provide for them to take responsibility within our classrooms and our school. We will also continue to participate in the MDI to monitor the development of Empathy and Prosocial Behaviour at the Grade 4 level.
