Sports / Athletics

Physical activity is an important part of an elementary school student. It not only improves health, reduces stress and improves concentration, but also promotes physical growth and development.  Exercise has also a positive influence on academic achievement, emotional well being and interaction with others.  Our sports programs aim to develop in our students a positive attitude and an interest in a range of physical activities and to raise awareness in making good health and fitness choices.

Fall Sports:

The Nestor World Cup Soccer League is a popular activity. There are two divisions in the League, a Grade 3 division which plays every Monday and a Grade 4/5 Division which plays Tuesday-Thursday.

Our philosophy is that the Nestor WCSL is fun and participatory. Students are divided into fair teams and are scheduled to play each other approximately 1 time per week. We keep score during the game, but do not record the results in any way. Participation and good sportsmanship is help in higher regard, with actual points being awarded to each team at the end of the game, for these two qualities.

Grade 4-5 teachers are involved with supervision but the refereeing is done by training Grade 5 students.

If you have questions about the Nestor WCSL, please contact Mr. Della Vedova. Here's to a great season!
