Scholarship & Bursary Updates

​​​​CLC Students:  

You are strongly encouraged to apply for scholarships and bursaries.  Unlike at a regular high school, CLC being a small program means a much greater likelihood that you will receive a scholarship or bursary.  But you have to apply!!

There are various groups of scholarships and bursaries that you could be eligible for.

Maxine & Gordon Wilson Award

$1500

Awarded to one (1) graduating student who plans to continue either their academic, technical or vocational education or training at an institution by June 2025.
These students should have demonstrated great resiliency in overcoming social, emotional, familial, and other contextual barriers. In doing so they have also demonstrated a capacity for managing their own wellness and have contributed to a learning environment that is inclusive and welcoming to all in the community.

Barbara Vengshoel Scholarship (CTA)
$500 each

Trades & Art Scholarships (CTA) $1500

shall be awarded to students in SD43 pursuing either a career in Trades or a career in Visual Arts or Fine & Performing Arts

a Continuing Education student and a student from an alternate program that is not attached to a secondary school.

shall be awarded to students in SD43 who identify as Indigenous, Black, a person of colour, LGBTQ2S+, or a person with a disability.

Coquitlam Retired Teachers Assc. Scholarship

Students who are planning to enter the teaching profession and who demonstrate acceptable academic achievement for future entry into a teacher training program at an institute of higher learning in B.C.
Students must submit the CRTA Bursary application and additional items listed in the application.
The successful recipients will be determined by the district scholarship committee and the CRTA application must be submitted to J. Marsh (jmarsh@sd43.bc.ca).
Deadline for submission: May 11, 2023
Scholarship/Bursary amount: $750/each

Students applying must have applied for acceptance in a Visual Arts Program at a recognized Post Secondary Art Institution

Indigenous Education Department BursaryAwarded to five (5) graduating, self-identified students having indigenous ancestry who demonstrate academic achievement leading to post-secondary education or a trades program.

Students must submit SD43 scholarship application form #1 to the Indigenous Education Department at: abedinfo@sd43.bc.ca Attn: Principal

Deadline for submission: May 11, 2023.
Successful recipients will be selected by the Indigenous Education Advisory Committee.
Scholarship/Bursary amount: five $1000 awards
Gearforce Scholarship

Awarded to one (1) graduating student amongst the SD43 secondary schools who have financial need. Also recognizing and rewarding their academic (must have been able to maintain a B average) and extracurricular achievements, while completing graduation requirements sufficient to continue their education/training in field of sound/theatre technology.  Student applicants must provide a 300-500 word, written submission, that answers the question, β€œHow would winning the Gearforce Scholarship assist you in achieving your post-secondary and career goals".

Students must submit using the Gearforce Scholarship application form to their school's scholarship committee, who is then requested to email the short list of 3-4 student applications to Joy Marsh (jmarsh@sd43.bc.ca).  Successful recipients will be determined by the district scholarship committee. Deadline for submission: May 11, 2023. 
Scholarship/Bursary amount: $1000 also includes the opportunity to access to a network of theatre technicians to help navigating the post-secondary options for this field of study/work, and also the option to engage in an internship and/or mentorship with Robert Nevalainen, Owner of Gearforce.

Sharon Perry Scholarship

Awarded to two (2) students who will be pursuing a post-secondary education in business administration, commerce, marketing, accounting or other general business studies.

Students must submit using the Sharon Perry Scholarship application form to their school's scholarship committee, who is then requested to email the short list of 3-4 student applications to Joy Marsh (jmarsh@sd43.bc.ca). Successful recipients will be determined by the district scholarship committee. Deadline for submission: May 11, 2023
