The Career Centre is open to all students from 8:30 to 4:00 pm daily

Students are welcome to use the room and resources to research career related information, post secondary options, scholarships and school projects. Students also use the room to search the net, complete homework, study, update their resumes or just read and eat lunch. Assistance is available to answer questions and /or point students towards the information they need. The Career Resource Facilitator (Ms. Beth David) is the sole employee in the centre and although on occasion she may be presenting Color Trekking Career Cruising in another location she is usually available every day.

The Career Centre maintains a separate library of videos and printed material to support the Career Prep, Capp and Planning 10 programs as well as the Centres own videos. The material to support the Secondary School apprenticeship program is here also. The Facilitator answers related questions and provides the applications and information to students .

The Career Centre provides books, pamphlets, magazines, CDs, and computer based programs and Web sites for both student and staff research.

The resources also include:

  • College and University Calendars for BC, and Canada plus Websites for all American colleges and universities and over 4500 world wide
  • College and university videos
  • Specialized Web sites for teachers and students
  • Career Related reference materials /files/binders/computer programs
  • Labour standards act and class sets of booklets and test sheet
  • Master project sheets for some CAPP, Career Prep and Planning 10 projects and Career Cruising or bridges plus one page interest/assessments and career related games.
  • 1000 plus career files /job profiles
  • Resume, cover letter and application forms "how-to" booklet and completion assistance
  • Pamphlets, brochures on careers, post secondary and military
  • S.I.N. applications
  • Employment trends/statistics and salary information
  • College and University Admission requirements and program information over 4500 facilities world wide
  • Application forms for BC Colleges and Universities and assistance with online applications, Eastern Canadian application packages and overseas and USA
  • We book guest speakers and provide the students with opportunities to meet the advisors from Local colleges and Universities and Eastern Canadian Universities
  • Post jobs and volunteer work experience opportunites
  • Maintain scholarship applications
  • Computer programs help students define their career interests and work preferences. Programs include, Bridges, Canlearn, Career Cruising, Student Counsellor, Education Planner and more.
  • Assessments both computer based and paper versions are available to teachers
  • Practice interviews for the Career Prep students are booked
  • Links to the community and its resources
  • Secondary School apprenticeship program- Information and Applications are available and resources/files are maintained in the centre
