Time Commitment

• 1 intake:  February (ending in late June)​
• 5 months long (no Spring Break)
  
• 4 days a week:  Monday to Thursday
  
• 8.00am to 3.00pm
  

Student Eligibility

• this program is made up different districts filling the 16 seats -
  traditionally Coquitlam SD43 has had 1-2 students enrolled 
• students typically take this program in their grade 12 year after taking all the necessary/core grade 11 subjects
• students must begin a program prior to June 30 of their graduation year
• ex 1:  a Program begins in March and runs for 23 weeks - this is okay for a current grade 12 student​ to apply to
  
• ex 2:  a program will begin in Au​gust after a grade 12 has graduated - that current grade 12 should not apply as they will not be accepted​​
• must have government-issued photo ID (ex: a driver's license, BC ​ID, passport) that is current/valid on the ​ITA exam date in mid-June
  
• on intake date, students must be:
  
• a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, and
  
• an enrolled student in a high school (non-grad) in SD43
  

Student Co​​st

• tuition-free, but students will need to pay about $800 for course materials, textbook, tools, CompassCard, etc

Location​

• VCC  "Broadway Campus" - 1155 East Broadway, Vancouver
• Transportation, to and from the training site(s), is the responsibility of the parent/guardian​​
• Skytrain is probably the best transportation option, as "VCC-Clarke station" is right across the street from the shop

Pre-Requisites​

• completed all grade 11 core subjects + Language Arts 12
• good literacy and numeracy skills
  
• excellent attendance + lates record while in high school
  
• ability to stand on your feet for extended periods of time

Skills + Attributes

• ​keen eye for style + design
  
• patience and accuracy
• creative, with some artist flair
  

Application Process/Steps

• inside each trade, the SD43 application is a link in the right column, near the top
• open up an application form and save it to your desktop 
  ​(must do this first to fill in correctly)
  
• student types in answers/responses​ directly into the fillable .pdf
  
• pri​nt off a completed ap​plication and get all necessary signatures (p. 2)
  
• submit the completed application to your school counselor

• a personal interview will happen (ideally within a few weeks of submission) 
  
• students are accepted into programs in mid/late May - notified by email 
• counselors will adjust timetables accordingly​
